Why So Many Scams in Internet Marketing?
Why So Many Scams in Internet Marketing?
I just read an interesting thread over at the The Warrior Forum about the amount of scams in Internet Marketing - compared to other markets.
By the way, if you aren’t already a member of the Warrior forum you may want to sign up for a free account. This place is an absolute gold mine in terms of the info available. You don’t have to pay a dime for it either.

Getting back to the topic. I guess one of the main reasons there are so many BSers and scam artists is that many people entering the IM business feel the need to sell ‘make money’ products. So, what you often find, are people trying to make a living with such products when they simply are NOT successful at the endeavor they are trying to sell to others.
According to the Original Poster, this make them a scammer and I see their point.
Here’s the response I made to the thread over at the discussion forum:
Yes, I do understand where you’re coming from.
Many on this forum and others like it are ‘fake it ’til you make it’ types. They pretend to be experts only to make sales and build their reputation. Provided they don’t get caught out they may well make it into the ‘big time’.
I make a good living as an internet marketer. I have never pretended otherwise, simply because it wouldn’t be true. I work hard and spend many hours daily learning more, interacting with other marketers and building my business.
I try to give advice here where I have had experience. A bullshitter gives advice from what they’ve read about other more successful people doing. There’s a difference, imho. They are parroting.
I love this business because of the freedom it gives me and I try to get that across in what I personally write.
You can generally tell the BS artists from the rest. You’re learning already.
Your best bet is probably to stick to the recognisable names. Mike Filsaime, John Reese and many others are in a different league and at the top of this business. They are also known for producing great products. You will pay extra but at least then you know what you’re getting.
You can read the entire thread here.
I am not sure if this problem is as prevalent in other niches, but I am sure it goes on to some extent.
What are your thoughts? Post your comments below.

Hi
I have had a web site for over a year now. It is full of affiliate’s and articles about food. I have sold less than $100.00 on the web site (http://www.1statnow.com) I have been undated with offers to make many dollars, get rich web sites. I have been very confused.
I am working with a new web site now and I feel as if I will make it work better than the web site I made. I am getting directions on what to do and where to go to get what I need with out thinking I will be ripped off.
I am on the Warrior Forum as Statnow and have enjoyed every read. I think these guys are great for advice. They tell it like it is, however there are some that are there to spam, but they don’t stay long. I am a newbie even after a year on the Internet and depend on the Warrior Forum for advice with what I do for my web site.
Best of luck
Its all good

Really? Ya I heard that, a lot of genuine people who want to take advantage of present day technology to earn some extra bucks are being taken for a horrific ride. the scammers are milking the hard earned money from innocent people. no doubt some people even after knowing all these still take risk that is another thing.

I can’t believe this. There are scammers online? This may shock you but WWII is over. This isn’t news. From to Catch a Preditor to I need you to help me and I’ll give you 10Billion US after you send me your identity and 5Grand.
First off you have to have something worthwhile to sell.Putting get rich free without effort doesn’t really work anymore.
Next you have to have a nice website that gives the impression you actually care, plus people are drawn to colorful, inovative displays just like moths to a flame.Look at Vegas. Why all the lights????????
The problem is that it is expensive to get a site like I’m talking about plus maintain it.I have tried through several free sources and some that charge low fees without success.
My problem is I have the ideas for a great money-making site that will deliver big and nobody gets scammed.I have all the promotion written down, where to get free advertising co-op,but I don’t have the capital for the site that will work and ensure the customers have no problems.Continuity of care for your consumers is imperative.
I have written plans for so many ideas that even people who have been scammed will sign up.Look out scammers if I ever get capital.I will set the standard for e commerce and watch the scammers drop like flies.More for me then right?
