Network Marketing Downline Scam

Network Marketing Downline Scam

Ok, it’s not a scam but it seems that when you mention the word SCAM the whole world and their uncle  come to fetch the scandal.

It’s something to do with preying on people’s fears. The advertising companies and especially those in government know that FEAR grabs attention - that’s why they keep doing it.

So, now that I’ve got your eye…

I received a question yesterday from a subscriber of mine

I have received notifications of signups being place below me in [NAME OF NETWORK MARKETING COMPANY WITHELD]. Do these go in my downline and do I get paid for them?

Here’s my answer:

Sending notifications of signups is a common strategy of Network marketing companies to give you the idea that your business is actually growing and that all you need to do is get on board to cash in.

I cannot speak for all such companies but everyone I have been involved with - without exception - will not pay you for indirect downline members alone. You DO NOT get paid anything worth talking about until you actually recruit your own people   .

There is nothing unethical in sending you posts about new members in your downline. They ARE being placed in your downline team - and many times you do benefit from those members - BUT you MUST bring in your own members, if you are going to make it in network marketing.

For instance I am a member of Success University. I have 100s of members in one leg of my team placed by those above me. This is known as spillover. I don’t earn a cent though until I qualify for commissions by personally referring TWO full paying members.

Do I get email stating how many members are placed below me? Sure I do! I get them whether they are going to benefit me financially or not.

I am still a big fan of SU, because they supply me with a great product in the form of audio classes that I would pay a fortune for otherwise. Also because I OWN my business - meaning I don’t rely on anyone else to build it for me - I do well with the Success Universitys’ compensation plan.

So, if joining an network marketing program you had better do so in the full knowlegde that you are going to have to do some recruiting of your own.

Don’t depend on your upline, sideline or backline to make your money for you. Take responsibility for your business and your business will soon take care of you.

Sorry! But that’s the truth of it.

Well put. If you did not have to recruit anyone at all if it was not a scam, it would verge on being one.

Mal you hit that nail right on the head. If you look all around the Internet you have all kinds of so-called Gurus saying that all you have to do is join with them and they will do all the work. Well that is what is hurting this business, people are under the impression that all you have to do is sign up and rake in the money. This is a business and it takes work and some investment to be successful online. So to all that read this remember nobody will do the work for you, only you control what you earn with your online business.

If you do your homework and do the work it will be well worth it in the end.
