Internet Marketing through Squidoo Lenses
I have been spending some time today updating my Squidoo lenses which I use to drive traffic to some of my niche membership sites.
Squidoo, although not as loved by the ‘big G’(Google) as it once was is still a good way to promote your internet business.
Now, like everything else there is a right and a wrong way to use Squidoo as a marketing strategy.
What you shouldn’t do is throw a load of keyword laden articles and pics on your squidoo lens and expect instant traffic.
This is a process and you should always look to add some value to Squidoo and the end user, ie. those who will be viewing your lens.
Consider setting up and inter linking multiple lens. In my niche I have 5 lenses on different topics within the one niche which I have linked together by simply placing links in a text box on each individual lens.
If you don’t update your lens regularly then you aren’t going to see much traffic delivered. I have fallen behind a little with this lately but when I was updating on a regular basis there was definitely an upturn in web visits.
The bonus of creating a lens that users will actually find value in is that they will rate and leave comments on your lens which will push your pages up the Squidoo rankings and ultimately lead to more traffic for your personal sites. Again, if you are going to abuse Squidoo and publish spammy pages then your efforts will likely be in vain.
You could consider paying someone to comment and rate your squidoos but even this is unlikely to work as the inconsistency of the activity on your lens will become very evident to the Squidoo algorithm. Squidoo is fun too. I actually enjoy adding various modules to my lenses 
. And, because adding modules is seen as a positive contribution in the world of Squidoo, I am again increasing the chance of my Squidoo being seen and sending targeted traffic to my other sites.
Do make sure to add links throughout your lens leading to your main site. Just don’t overdo it.
I usually place a link at the end of each article I add. I also place a link in my bio box and in the introductory panel.
Personally, I have been paying someone to write unique articles for my niche but if you run out of content you can always go to sites like Ezinearticles.com and find some targeted articles for your lens.
Update regularly, provide quality content, encourage activity on your lens and you should see some traffic to your internet business - not immediately but in due course.
