Why So Many Scams in Internet Marketing?

Why So Many Scams in Internet Marketing?

I just read an interesting thread over at the The Warrior Forum about the amount of scams in Internet Marketing - compared to other markets.

By the way, if you aren’t already a member of the Warrior forum you may want to sign up for a free account. This place is an absolute gold mine in terms of the info available. You don’t have to pay a dime for it either.

Click Here to register free.

Getting back to the topic. I guess one of the main reasons there are so many BSers and scam artists is that many people entering the IM business feel the need to sell ‘make money’ products. So, what you often find, are people trying to make a living with such products when they simply are NOT successful at the endeavor they are trying to sell to others.

According to the Original Poster, this make them a scammer and I see their point.

Here’s the response I made to the thread over at the discussion forum:

Yes, I do understand where you’re coming from.

Many on this forum and others like it are ‘fake it ’til you make it’ types. They pretend to be experts only to make sales and build their reputation. Provided they don’t get caught out they may well make it into the ‘big time’.

I make a good living as an internet marketer. I have never pretended otherwise, simply because it wouldn’t be true. I work hard and spend many hours daily learning more, interacting with other marketers and building my business.

I try to give advice here where I have had experience. A bullshitter gives advice from what they’ve read about other more successful people doing. There’s a difference, imho. They are parroting.

I love this business because of the freedom it gives me and I try to get that across in what I personally write.

You can generally tell the BS artists from the rest. You’re learning already.

Your best bet is probably to stick to the recognisable names. Mike Filsaime, John Reese and many others are in a different league and at the top of this business. They are also known for producing great products. You will pay extra but at least then you know what you’re getting.

You can read the entire thread here.

I am not sure if this problem is as prevalent in other niches, but I am sure it goes on to some extent.

Auto Social Poster 4.0 for Wordpress 2.6+

I just downloaded and installed the new Auto Social Poster 4.0 Pro.

I’ve been in possession of ASP for a couple of years now and just love this bookmarking tool.

This software is not like the free tools out there like Onlywire. Only wire will help with bookmarking to social site and could probably be described as semi-automated, where Auto Social Poster is full-automated. Once setup you don’t have to do a thing to have it submit your sites to multiple social network accounts.

Here’s a list of some of the sites that Auto Social Poster will automatically submit to with each Wordpress blog post:

  • http://www.backflip.com – You must select a category on the ASP options page.
  • http://www.bibsonomy.org
  • http://www.blinklist.com
  • http://www.blogmarks.net
  • http://www.faves.com – Formerly bluedot.us
  • http://www.buddymarks.com – On buddymarks.com, to make bookmarks public, go to SETUP - PUBLISH Choose EVERY BOOKMARK.
  • http://www.connectedy.com
  • http://de.lirio.us
  • http://del.icio.us
  • http://www.excites.com – Disabled temporarily until they fix their site!
  • http://www.feedmelinks.com
  • http://www.furl.net
  • http://www.google.com/bookmarks
  • http://www.linkagogo.com
  • http://www.linkroll.coms
  • http://ma.gnolia.com
  • http://www.markaboo.com
  • http://www.mister-wong.com
  • http://my.xilinus.com – This site is a bit buggy, but it’s worth a try.
  • http://myweb.search.yahoo.com
  • http://www.scuttleplus.org – You can add bookmarks to any site that is running scuttlePLUS.
  • http://www.simpy.com
  • http://www.taggly.com – Works but your bookmarks might only be visible on home page.
  • http://www.propeller.com NEW
  • http://www.searchles.com NEW

And a screenshot of the ASP control panel:

Auto Social Poster allows me to fully automate my social site marketing. Technically you aren’t supposed to bookmark your own links on the social sites but for the purposes of internet marketing, and as long as I’m not spamming the sites with crappy content, I can live with plugging my own blog posts on there. The most I’m gonna be submitting is a few times per week.

In the interests of keeping your accounts alive, I suggest you don’t use your real name when signing up because if you are found to be bookmarking your own posts your are likely to have your account terminated.

I don’t advise spamming SB sites in any way. Show a bit of common sense, web etiquette and decency and there’s no reason why you can’t become a useful contributor to all your community memberships.

The hardest part of setting up Auto Social Poster is setting up accounts at the various social networking sites. There are 33 in all.

I had a problem with a few registrations. Markaboo kept timing out on me and one or two others had frozen new registrations but other than that the signup marathon was painless. It took me around an hour in all to signup for 33 sites.

I suggest you get a tool like Roboform to help you with the signup processes.

Once setup and login info added to my ASP settings - from within the Wordpress control panel - I’m ready to go. ASP will now submit every blog post I make from now on to each of my Social bookmark accounts.

Please note: You need to have a Wordpress blog in order to use Auto Social Poster. You can download wordpress free here.

As soon as I hit the publish button on this post ASP will do the rest.

Creating a Simple Affiliate Link Redirect

Creating a Simple Affiliate Link Redirect

It’s very important that you cloak your affiliate links for various internet marketing strategies.

For instance when sending email marketing email to your optin subscribers. It doesn’t look good if you include an unaltered affiliate link, ie. https://member.stompernet.net/?r=200778&i=68
You also increase the chances of subscribers removing your affiliate id and going to their own link or the merchant domain, ie. http://stompernet.net/

Another area where you would be advised to add a redirect link in in your article resource box when article marketing. Some article directories won’t allow affiliate links in ANY form. So if they click the link it won’t get past. Even with these directories though, you have a much better chance of passing the directory moderators if the link isn’t so recognisable as an affiliate link.

Here’s a simple redirect that I use. It won’t hide the affiliate link when users click on it but it will look better in your resource box and you can change the link that it redirects too at anytime - which is always good for the future when you may want to change the link for whatever reason.

Code:

<html>
<body>
<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
window.location.replace('PUTYOURAFFILIATELINKHERE');
//-->
</script>
</body>
</html>

Simply open a notepad file, copy and paste the above into the file, save it as YOURAFFILIATEPROGRAM.html (ie. stompernet.html), then upload to your server.

Your link will then look like:
http://www.YOURDOMAIN.com/YOURAFFILIATEPROGRAM.html

Tip: Create a new folder called ‘recommends’ and put all your redirect links in it. So your link would then look like this:
http://www.YOURDOMAIN.com/recommends/YOURAFFILIATEPROGRAM.html

If you are looking for a program that will cloak your affiliate links completely - even in the browser bar - then you can check out the link below:

This program further decreases the chances of your affiliate commission being stolen.

Hope you enjoyed this short tutorial.

Free StomperNet

Free StomperNet Are you kidding me?

So, let me get this straight, you get a top notch $497 Search engine optimization product that everyone is raving about, PLUS $1000s worth of other products from the best in internet marketing and you only have to try out Brad Fallon’s and Andy Jenkin’s new monthly magazine(”The Net Effect” Trade journal)?

Call me stupid - I tried and tried to see the catch in this - but as far as I can see there is none. Oh wait, they do have a few one time offers during the signup and payment process. I didn’t buy any of the OTOs. YOU don’t have to either.

I didn’t hesitate to order this package. I paid shipping and handling on the Stompernet package and it’s on it’s way to my door now.

Then, I got an email earlier today telling me that I can also grab $1000s worth of other internet marketing products for free too, from the best in the industry such as Mike Filsaime, Rich Schefren, and Jeff Johnson.

The worst that can happen here is that I receive a $39.95 per month magazine - I don’t like it - and have to cancel my subscription. If these guys are as good as they say they are then I’m likely to stay a monthly subscriber. The point is I don’t have to and neither do you.

Go over there now, have a look at the videos:
:arrow: Free StomperNet Package

This really IS a no brainer or else I’m missing something HUGE!

Now getting back to Stompernet and the fact that it’s free. Andy Jenkins and Brad Fallon aren’t stupid. They have created an avalanche of traffic to their offer. They’ve signed up over 10,000 paying customers, as of today. They have probably already made a fortune on the One Time Offers and extras that are offered during the signup process.

So, let’s see, 10,000 multiplied by $39.95 per month. Hold on ’til I get out my calculator :lol: That’s $399,500 per month or $4,795,000 per year.

Now of course not everyone is going to remain a subscriber but if the content of the new ‘Net Effect’ is good, a fair percentage will indeed remain as paying customers. Even 1 in 5 makes them close to $1 million per year in residual income and that’s just from subscription fees. The back-end sales will be worth much much more.

$39.95 is not a lot of money to spend for a quality product, especially when you see some of the crap that is on sell for much greater costs.

Andy and Brad have certainly done their homework. They have a fair idea of the storm they are creating and an even better guess at how much this is gonna rake in, with front and back-end sales. You didn’t think they had opened up a charity now, did you? :shock:

Regardless of what their goals, you can go over there now and grab all on offer for a few dollars in S&H and NEVER have to pay anything more(Unless you choose to):
