Manual or Paid Directory Submissions?

I’ve recently been looking at some ways to revive some of my inactive blogs and decided that the quickest way to do this is through some paid directory submissions.

Directory listings are a good way to build some back-links to your websites and significantly raise your websites’ search engine ranking. The results won’t be immediate but submitting to directories is a great way to build your web presence and long-term web traffic.

There are a few ways you can do this:

1. Manual Directory Submissions - In this case you’ll have to find a list of directories, navigate to their homepage and from their find the submission page from where you can enter your info and submit your site. I have never use this process because I would much rather find a way to have this done without spending too much of my time.

2. Directory Submission Software - This is a lot faster than the above method with some great pieces of software out there to semi automate the process. Software like Directory Submitter maintains a list of 100s of live directories that you can submit to. You can go to the directories from within the software and the software will automatically fill in the submission form for you according to the info you have previously entered.

Directory Submitter even comes with a web script that will allow you to automatically swap links with those directories that require a reciprocal link. It will also filter those that DO require recip links or payments leaving with you with only FREE directories to submit to.

You can easily submit to couple hundred directories per day using the Directory Submitter method. I highly recommend you get a copy of this software.

3. Paid Directory Submissions By far the fastest way to have your site submitted to a few hundred directories is to pay someone to do it for you. I recently found a company that would submit my site to 500 directories for $50. Good enough!

Today though I was made aware of another company that will submit to 400 directories for $42 PLUS they have detailed reports of the submissions including screenshots of each submission. This is good, as you need to know that your submissions are actually being done. I also recommend you get the monthly submissions for $8.95 for a steady stream of new monthly back-links for your site. Click Here to find this company that will do your directory submissions for you. The company is called Article Aware.

Looking at the above list you can see that all achieve the desired results. What option you go for is purely down to you, how much you have to spend and how much you value your time.

Wordpress 2.6 Upgrade Deleted Categories

Wordpress 2.6 Upgrade Deleted Categories - and fix

I’ve just did an upgrade of my blogs after a hacker added 100s of urls to almost every post on this blog and one or to others.

It was a nightmare having to manually edit each post to remove the links. I advise everyone to check the source code of their posts for any links that shouldn’t be there.

The links aren’t actually visible but are to give links back to various sites I presume owned by the hacker or someone they are working for.

I guess they figured if they aren’t visible then they’ll go un-noticed which is probably the case for 1000s of other sites out there - especially blogs were the owners no longer edit or publish to the web.

I don’t always rush to do an upgrade of Wordpress but I’ll be sure to update to the latest version as soon as it’s released from now on. Upgrading to the latest version of Wordpress usually closes most security issues.

Having did the upgrade I was horrified to find that my categories had disappeared from the sidebar of my blog as well as the Blogroll links I had added.

Apparently this is a common issue with the latest upgrade to Wordpress which has affected many people - at least judging by the posts I came across when looking for a fix.

One guy has come up with a way to manually add your categories again which can be found here. This wil fix your categories. It’s just gonna take some time to do so.

In the meantime, I have removed the categories and links section from the sidebar until I can either find the time to manually add them all back in again, or Wordpress comes out with a new upgrade which will fix this issue automatically.

Are you beginning to see why I hesitate to upgrade wordpress. Not only is there a chance that this will happen but you can always be sure that you will have to upgrade some of your plugins too which will cease to work with each new major upgrade. I guess that’s the price you pay for a high quality blogging platform. :???:

5 Highly Effective Strategies to Increase Your Web Hits Using Social Bookmark Sites

The www is awash with internet marketers using Social Bookmark sites, like Propeller and Digg, to drive massive amounts of traffic to their business sites, increasing sales and profits.

This isn’t a new phenomenon. In fact, from the dawn of social networking sites there have been a plentiful herd of internet marketers waiting to discover how best they could use this explosion of traffic - to drive visitors to their own sites.

Here are some tips to maximise your exposure on such sites using tried and proven methods to drive targeted traffic to your website:

1. There are numerous networking communities online that you can sign up for free. Submit to as many as possible. Do a search on Google for ‘Social bookmarking sites’ for the most popular with the highest traffic stats.

2. If it’s within your budget, I highly encourage you to purchase a web script or software utility to put this process on auto-pilot. I use a Wordpress script called Auto Social Poster that will automatically submit each blog post I publish to around 30 Social networking sites - including all the most visited ones.

3. The Social sites usually link from your article title back to your site PLUS they put your link on pages on their site - determined by whichever keyword phrases you use when submitting. Ensure that you use popular search terms in your tags and article title. Hint: Choose three to four word(long-tail) keyword phrases to increase the likelihood of your Social Bookmark article ranking high on Google and the other top search engines.

4. Interact with other SB members. On either Technorati, Propeller, or Digg, I encourage you to take part in site functions, for instance commenting on member articles and adding friends. This will encourage them to do the same for you which will in turn raise your ranking and standing on the network in question.

5. Link to your social bookmark pages. If possible add links to your Social bookmark account to as many other sites as possible. Some article submission directories disapprove of using affiliate sites or similar links in your resource box, but many will overlook this. So it’s a good idea to add your Social Networking page link to your author bio box, if article submissions are a method you use in your daily marketing. Creating a link back to your SB articles and pages will give the URLs on these pages a great boost in search engine ranking and may even help you grab a much sought after top spot on Google or Yahoo.

The above are just a few methods you can employ to raise your chances significantly of getting loads of free web traffic from social networking sites. Apply them today to your marketing and watch your traffic and income soar.
