Why Start a Home Based Business?

There are many reasons why you would start your own home based business.

Maybe you are sick of your offline work, you hate your boss, you feel sick to your stomach at the daily commute to work. That’s how I felt and I only lived a ten minute walk from my work place.

Or, you want more personal freedom, to spend more time with your kids. Perhaps you want to travel. Did you know that with an online home business you can basically take your laptop anywhere in the world and make a living?

One of the main benefits that I enjoy with my home business is the knowlege that I will have something tangible to leave my kids when I finally depart this earth.

Lately though I have been thinking about how they are going to manage if they know nothing about online business. Where would they start? After all, it took me years to learn all the intracacies of running a work at home business.

So, I’ve decided to make a few changes about the house. No more sleeping half the day, getting fed on demand and basically grabbing everyone’s attention whenever they feel like it.

It’s time some people were pulling their weight and preparing themselves to take over the family business.

Success University Scam?

I was just checking my website visitors stats and noticed that some of the visitors reaching this site have been searching for ‘Success University Scam’.

So I thought I would give my views on this. I am actually a member of Success University and have been for over a year now. This is one program that I can guarantee is NOT a scam.

I have been involved in some questionable Network Marketing programs in the past and let me tell you that SU is not one of them. When I say questionable, I mean that the products that were offered weren’t close to being worth the monthly fee. This lack of quality products, leaves programs like this open to being labeled ‘Pyramid Schemes‘.

Success University’s products includes a top class success audio and video library containing 100s of courses. If you were to pay for these courses individually you would spend $1000s. With Success University you get access for a low monthly fee.
I personally would pay for these audios, with or without the business opportunity that accompanies the SU products.

Here’s a quote from the Success University site:

As the first and only Success University, we firmly believe that knowledge alone won’t make you wealthy… We go to school for 12 to 20 years of our lives but are simply never taught the right kind of knowledge to be successful in life. In today’s world, you need to THINK in a different way to achieve real success.

I agree, if you are trying to reach a high level of success without working on your attitudes and beliefs then you are simply swimming against the tide. Work on your limiting beliefs and success will come much easier and will lead to TRUE success and happiness.

Professional Keyword Research

Keyword research in undoubtedly one of the most important aspects to consider when setting up your own online home business.

If you don’t target your keyword phrases effectively then you will be wasting both time and effort, performing tasks that will never pay off no matter how hard you try.

Here are some points to consider when conducting your keyword research:

1. Consider which tools you are going to use - Save them to a one of your favourites folders for easy and frequent access. There are even some tools out there that allow you to download a tool bar with all the tools readily available. There are numerous free tools, many of which are very useful. I personally, use a tool called Keyword Elite to conduct my online keyword research.

2. What keyphrases are you going to target? - If you have very few resources available and are new to online marketing then it is advisable that you target ‘long tail’ keyword phrases. These are keyword phrases with 3-5 words, which make them a lot less competitive and easier to attain top rankings in the search engines.

3. Use a variety of keyword phrases for each campaign - Are you using the keywords in your website content or are they primarily for backlinking text? I would find two or three less competitive keyword phrases for each target market and use these to create backlinks through article submissions. Then, take ten different variations of these keyword phrases and use them in your website content.

4. Target profitable keyword phrases - Obviously the main aim of keyword research is to find profitable keywords. How can we do that? One effective way to target buyers and also find less competitive search terms is to find keyword phrases that contain certain words like, ‘buy’ as in ‘buy keyword research tool’.

5. Find untapped markets - Many of your competitors will be targeting all the same keyword phrases. This is where they fall down. Find obscure phrases that your target are already searching for and go after these by specifically writing articles based on these to achieve better or top search engine rankings. One good way to do this is by scanning your current website visitors and finding the keyword terms that sent them to your site.

Keyword research is only a beginning in building a profitable online business but it is an aspect of your marketing that cannot be overlooked. Effective keyword research is essential to ensure your business becomes a huge success and not a dismal failure.

Free Shoutbox Site Setup & a Late Breakfast

I am just up out of bed. It’s 11am

No boss waiting to lay into me for being late, other than my wife

One of the perks of working online is that I start when I want and finish when I feel like it. If I wish to take a day off or even a week or two, I do so.

Does that type of work appeal to you? Does being free to work your own hours interest you? I’m sure it does!

I set up my new site yesterday - Free Shoutbox site.

I bought the script the day before and it was up and running the following day. There isn’t a hope in hell that I would have been able to do this a few years ago.

As my internet marketing business grows it becomes easier to add other income streams. The income from Free Shoutbox Site will not come immediately as it is free, obviously. I will be able to plug in some income as the site grows and it gets more visitors.

There is a viral aspect to the the site in that the more people who use it will send visitors back to the site through the link at the bottom of each Shoutbox. This viral marketing should keep the site growing.

There is also a scroll box on the Shoutbox main page with products with my affiliate ID plugged in. So I get 50% of any income made from these.

I don’t say this to boast. I am hoping to give you some ideas and inspire you to get involved in this type of business.
